Tuna Canning factory Minicoy was established by the Department of fisheries, by Lakshadweep administration and was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Smt.Indiragandhi on 8th October 1969. The main objective for establishing the unit was to add value of the tuna landed by island fisherman and to provide employment to islanders. Lakshadweep Development Corporation LTD took over the running Tuna canning Factory in September 1990.
