Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Minicoy Island in Union Territory of Lakshadweep, India was established on 5th October 1988, as envisaged by the New Education Policy unfolded by Govt. of India in 1986. The School is located in Minicoy, an island which is about 400 kms away from Cochin, nearest port city in Kerala. It is a co-educational residential school with classes from VI to XII.
The school is housed in a small but beautiful 3.50 acre campus dotted with coconut trees in the heart of the island. The campus consists of a massive Academic Block, separate dormitories for boys and girls with sufficient capacity, a well-designed Dining Hall-cum-Kitchen, and Staff Quarters. All teaching staff including the Principal is comfortably accommodated inside the campus to ensure better monitoring of school activities.
Aim and Objectives:
To provide quality and modern education to the talented students mainly from the rural areas.
To set good example as a pace – setting school to improve the benchmark in the standard of education and to act as an educational resource centre for the neighboring schools.
To facilitate the all – round development of students with emphasis on cultural and moral values and with proper awareness of the environment.
